SCHOOL HOLIDAYS....

Its well into the second week of the school holidays.......for some parents it can be a headache having to cope with maybe three four or five school going childrens all at home at the same time. for the full time stay at home mom  it will be quite a task having to be in the kitchen all the time seeing to their meals all throughout the hols!  For those who can afford it its time for holidays somewhere be it locally  or overseas.......or it can  also be the time to balik kampong to spend time with the grandparents!!! When we were young  school holidays are the timre we looked forward to, to spend time with my dear grandma!! she was an energatic lady.. who despite her age are capable of  good gardening planting all sorts of home grown vegies eps her jagung ... I can remember how tasty the home grown jagung was. She will take us to bathe in the river nearby which runs bordering the nearby estate.

Those were the times that I cannot  forget to this day!!  also having the times playing with the kampung childrens main guli  kaca ,konda kondi and flying kites in the nearby school fields. and back to the house for my grandma  tasty kampung dishes for meals.

Now my two boys are big boys  I don't have much problems coping with them one is in college while the younger one are happy to spend time with his friends , coming to the house or going outing to the various malls in the city. Personally for me its  more leisure on my time , I don't have to prepare breakfast for them , back to sleep again after my subuh solat, waking up well into nine or ten in the morning for the housework!!
seronok kan!!!!! what I have prepared for the family today........... its rendang daging  minang......masak lemak chili padi timun tua and my fav steamed broccoli with sambal belacan!!!!
Till then byeeeee

Love thy neighbours!

On saturday I had a pleasant surprise when  the door bell rang and there  stood my neighbour Girija with a tray full of food , theres muruku, mutton curry  n butter rice and a kind of sweet  Indian cakes when I asked whats the occassion, she replied that wasn't anything but she felt bad when last deepavalli she did not give anything to us.. u see she and her family did not celebrate the last deepavalli cause two of the aunts in her husband's family passed away a few months before deepavalli one after the other ...sad thing!!!I was  so touched by her  gestures...... she and her husband and two young children are such  a nice family.she a full time house wife and her husband is an engineer cum a very good cook .....a lovely young couple an d nice neighbours. Living in a neighbourhood with nice neighbours are a blessing and I must say that we were lucky in the sense that from very young when the first house  that I knew ...the govt quarters in KL when my late father was still in the govt service was in a very peacefull neighbourhood where everyone in the neighbourhood knew each other till my dad's retirement when we moved to sec 14 PJ a multi racial community..... where tolerance are always practiced that was in the early 70s .. we lived there for sixteen years upon my father's demise we bought  another house  and moved in Subang Jaya..... Here was also a multi racial community....... this time we lived  in a nice neighbourhood all throughout the 21 years  only  to be marred by one incident when the tenant who was renting the house next door  was  a problem lady.... she  lived alone;;;; and she can be away for days living her dog chained in one corner of her porch with just a small pail of water for the dog ..... you can imagined when the poor thing was hungry barking incessantly day n night  a pitiful sight !   we were very very disturbed by the howling and the barking  then she'll be back only to be repeated again when she'll be gone again until one day when she was home I confronted her telling her about the whole thing........ only to told back its none of my  business if the dog is hungry or not!!!!! and why I am the only one telling her this when none of the other neighbours did so and according to her dogs can lived only on water for days and survive!!!!! this got me  really on my nerve when I told her does it takes the whole neighbourhood to come before she do something  and I dont care if the dog dies or not but its the barking and howling that is driving us into insanity and if she doest'n compromise I have to report her to the authority she just gave me fierce look and dissapeard inside  and the next day the dog was nowhere to be seen!!! not long after that she moved away!!!. We moved to our present house in Shah Alam almost three years now and so far the  neighbours are nice and approachable they made up of mostly doctors, lecturers and   successful business people. Its true when they say that when looking for a house ..... beside the house itself. the locality its a must to find out the fellow buyers who are going to be neighbours thats important...... and thank God so far so good for us our immediate neighbours are indeed pleasant people!!!!!!!  till then byeeeee

Snowfalls

I just had a chat with my niece who is studying in Cardiff, UK..... she was telling me about her first snowfalls as she was walking  to attend class.....  which brought me back to my own snowfalls experience of years ago...I was  in our comportable apartment looking out the window when suddenly I saw what look like cotton balls falling from the sky ! I had a friend with me in the apartmen byee  then and she told me its snow falling ... without thinking I just ran out the door to the lifts 5 floor down to the garden  reaching out to touch the falling snowfalls without realiasing I only had a thin cardigan on and in my batik sarong!!!!!! luckily my friend followed me down with an overcoat for me to put on much to the gawking attention of my apartment neighbours who happen to be in the same locality.. my friend had a good explanation to them saying it was my first snow experience.... they were then nice enough to join me  throwing snow at me as gesture of welcome to the experience !!!! ha ha thinking back now I do feel rather like a JAKUN then ; nice to think that my niece Izzaty had a more sober experience as she was walking for her lecture!!!!!!!!!!!! byeeee

Endless housework

They say theres no end to house work, true enough ... the moment you open your eyes till bed  time there  are always  to       do around the house ....no end to it!!!!  today I have to give in to my second boy wanting his own room, all this both the  boys shared a room! now  both are wanting  their own space---- privacy la tu!! so the only alternative is to make do with the guest room downstairs since allthe four rooms upstairs are occupied........The whole morning I had to repositioned the furniture in the guest room to make way for his study table.....a bed is already there so thats it.... I had to do it for him since next year is a crucial year for him........SPM!!!!! anything to make him happy  so that he can focus on his studies!!!!!! he was quite happy with the room although that  leaves me with a back ache!!!!!  backache or backache meal for the family still has to be cook......... so it was just some sinple dishes..... korma ayam ...tempe n bilis goreng and sayur buncis goreng.........looking forward to the week-end !!!!!!! when  I'll hang up my apron for then its meals out day!! yea........byeeeee

In a memory..........

Memories are part and parcel of our lives, be it good memories for us to ponder    and smiles back at those happy days....bad memories are meant to forget... and take it as a lesson and never to repeat....but its the painful memories that we can't erase no matter how we tried the pain will always be there as though it just happened yesterday! To me the most painful memories are  the passing away of my loved ones......the ones that are most dearest! in 85 my dearest dad ...passed away at the age of 72.. though a strict man by nature but he always have a soft spot for me whenever I'm in a spot...understands me alot and just so appreciate my cooking...to him there is no other better person who can cook for him....then six month later it was my dearest  grandma at he age of 82 and this time the more painful it was when I'm not there when it happen....I was with my sister thousands of miles away in Belgium just at times we packing  to go back for good after 4 years. That dreaded phone call from mo brother just brought the whole world seems to stop and my legs going numb....just imagine I'm not there in her final days nor there for her funeral..it was so devastatingly sad,  only to come home to see her fresh grave. Three years ago the same painful experience when this time it was my beloved mom..at the age of 82 also, after battling 2 years of cancer,Ya Allah  only god knows how it was  only those who have  been thru it will know.....  but somehow with the nature of her illness we are in a way kind of prepared for the worst, only maybe in denial....she passed away at SJMC surrounded by all her children and grandchildrens,.......my dearest dearest mother....then about  nearly two years ago this time my  dear bro-in-law passed away at the age of 49 such a young age  and so very sudden  ..of stroke a very massive one...... no warning  no expectation from the family that hes going after five days in the icu... though al little tempremental man but he is a man full of goodness ..kind hearted man ever ready to help be it just about for everyone in need of his help, the many kind words of from those who knew him, friends , neighbours to the burger boys in the neighbourhood  justifies it all......and to me personally  more than  a  bro-in-law but just like my very own brother......to these loved ones you are forever remembered every moment of the day esp in  my 5 solat aday without fail. ALFATIHAH,,,,  for the living life has to go on  and make every moments that we still have to good use in th eyes of the Allmighty!!!! for the family today I have prepared them fish curry ........ sambal sotong and eggsoup with petola......till then byeeee
